New Zealand is one of the most popular places for skiing and snowboarding in the Southern Hemisphere; New Zealand skiers have available to them a huge array of ski slopes and adventure queenstown NZ can take you there - ski New Zealand with us!
Skiing New Zealand means having a great time. There are ski schools and equipment rental for beginners to advanced skiers with cafés and restaurants for those who enjoy the aprés-ski lifestyle. As an added bonus, lift lines are spectacularly short and it usually only takes a few minutes before you are on the slopes and enjoying yourself!
Although you can ski New Zealand on either the South Island and the North Island, we recommend the South Island. The New Zealand South Island which boasts the mighty Southern Alps, a chain of peaks which span the entire length of the island and offers some of the best snow in the world.
Queenstown and Wanaka are two alpine resort towns at the centre of all the action. The Queenstown ski season runs from the 1st of May to mid October. Queenstown has been called the 'adventure capital of the world' and is the gateway to two excellent ski areas; Coronet Peak and the Remarkables.
Coronet Peak is a mountain blessed with fantastic, varied natural terrain, outstanding views over Queenstown and Lake Wakatipu, and world class ski runs to suit all abilities of skiers and boarders. Once you know the ropes, you'll enjoy the vertical off the express quad, or exploring the rolling terrain with plenty of interesting dips and drops for great variety. For boarders, Coronet is a natural terrain park, full of endless hits and powder stashes! If skiing all day just isn't enough, Coronet Peak lets you ski all night as well.
The Remarkables were so called because they are one of only two mountain ranges in the world that run truly North-south. If you ski New Zealand and in particular, if you ski at the Remarkables, you can be sure of a long, reliable ski season. The Remarkables prides itself on the incredible family facilities like the dedicated snow tubing park, and celebrates this feature with the renowned "Remarkables Spring Carnival" in September. The Remarks offers great powder days and awesome spring snow.
As well as skiing, Queenstown offers activities across the full spectrum of interests and budgets. From adventure wild to adventure mild.
Skiing in New Zealand is not just confined to ski areas. There are numerous opportunities to go heli-skiing and explore the back country. Queenstown is located a short distance from the World Heritage National Parks within the Southern Alps of New Zealand. Renowned for their exceptional natural beauty they are outstanding examples of the earth's evolutionary history. Icy summits, fluted peaks and sheer rock walls surrounded by fast flowing glaciers provide the ultimate climbing and skiing environment.
